About the Hub

The project in a nutshell

The Hub comprises a small single storey extension at the front of Village Hall to form a retail unit on the right hand side of the village hall entrance, and a lobby serving the lower ground floor on the left hand side. It includes a new bus shelter on the village green, new disabled parking bay, cycle racks and an elevator serving the basement to access a disabled friendly bathroom and storage area. There would also be a new pedestrian refuge at the front as well as a new electrical power supply to the hall and club.

The Wethersfield Hub Development Group is made up of volunteers responsible for bringing forward the Hub proposals. They have been working closely together on the project before and since detailed planning consent was granted on 17th September 2020.

Prior to planning consent being granted, the group was known by the acronym CROWS which originally formed after a special meeting of the Parish Council, in response to the closure of the village shop and post office in Silver St. The name CROWS was changed when the scope the project was broadened to more than a village shop.

All the volunteers reside in Wethersfield. They take an active interest in furthering the facilities and assets of the Parish and have pledged their time and expertise to serve the community by helping to deliver this project. The progress to date has been funded mostly by personal contributions, but also by grants, and in part by direct funding from the Wethersfield Parish Council.
